The Unapologetically You Scholarship Fund

Hi, my name is Tobechi Mezu I am a recent graduate from Morgan State University! Four years ago I came to Morgan with my twin sister Ugochi looking to discover a purpose but I gained much more. Morgan allowed me to become a resilient leader, a caring friend, and an educated black woman. 

I started the journey with my twin sister Ugochi, but on October 8th, 2019 she suddenly passed away. We were twins in every way and unique in our own ways. We even had the same major and every class together. Her determination and grit always stayed with me and kept me going. People always wondered why I didn’t take a break from college...it wasn’t only about me I was doing it for the both of us. So when, I walked across the stage, I accepted the degree for US both. 

In honor of Ugochi, I will be starting a scholarship fund for people who were just like her; Creative and Determined. Ugochi was a videographer, editor, and loved social media content. She was meant to do so much in this world and I want to give someone the opportunity to do so in her honor. 

About The Unapologetically You Scholarship 

This scholarship will be dedicated to students in the communication/media field or equivalent to support creativity & innovation. The name Unapologetically You came from our first ever clothing line. Through this line we wanted people to be comfortable in their clothing style and be their unique selves. Unapologetically You is about owning it and standing up for what you believe in.
