The Spirit of the Village Global Movement

True Friendship begins with Mutual Respect.

My name is Jacky A. Yenga, aka Jacky Essombe. A long time ago, I decided that I would share my African Heritage for healing, and to promote friendship and more understanding of cultural diversity and bring community together. Today this work is needed more than ever!

I am an author, a speaker, performer and facilitator of African Healing Circles and Retreats to heal and comfort the Soul. I created the Spirit of the Village to infuse joy, wisdom, culture and connection back into our communities.

The Spirit of the Village is a way of life, a state of being and a feeling. It’s about restoring harmony to the human, natural and spiritual community.

The Spirit of the Village Movement is a GLOBAL journey of healing, forgiveness and friendship among all cultures.  It’s also a journey of Joy, Fulfillment and Belonging

IT'S TIME... WE CAN NO LONGER WAIT FOR THIS.

What is that feeling? It’s the feeling that we are part of the same community, we are inter-connected, we matter, we belong, and we genuinely care about each other. ALL OF US.

I am here to help you restore and cultivate deeper and more meaningful connections, for a richer and more fulfilling experience of life.  We, as human beings can do better, for ALL of us. Doing it TOGETHER is how we can make it work for everyone. We MUST learn to live together in a way that is equitable and that preserves the DIGNITY of all people.

What can you do right now and how will this campaign help?

I need your help to create opportunities for OUR community to heal TOGETHER. However, this isn’t about the savior complex of “helping a poor village in Africa”. This is about acknowledging the value of traditional African wisdom and learning directly from it and supporting it in a sustainable way. This is about the process of healing from the violent and unjust legacy of colonization and slavery.  I am looking for a group of committed people who are willing to support this healing work and also who want to be a part of it, so that we heal TOGETHER.

Here are the projects that this campaign will help bring to life:

* The Spirit of the Village Book – launch party on June 16, 2021 (my birthday!)
* A Traditional Grieving Ceremony for Black people – spring 2021 (Free for all participants, with your help)
* Assiya Healing Ceremony – a traditional ceremony of forgiveness (this is primarily for forgiveness between the whites and the blacks, but we welcome and acknowledge all cultures) – summer 2021
* Free online resources – starting fall 2020
* Members only Village Portal – starting winter 2020-2021
* Africa Heals the World: a Spirit of the Village Annual Conference – starting May 2022
* Healing trips to Africa - starting December 2021
* Maka’a Village Project – a comprehensive project to support and work with the keepers of the forest in Cameroon and learn to honor and preserve nature and its abundance

AFRICA CAN HEAL THE WORLD. We have a culture that is profoundly healing for the soul. It’s a culture that embraces everyone, but we need to HEAL our collective wounds to move forward TOGETHER.

My first priority is to complete the book and create a library of free online resources. That’s phase 1. All donations above $25 will receive a FREE SIGNED COPY OF THE BOOK. You will receive an invitation to the next phase (the healing ceremonies) and updates about the progress of the conference, and you will be invited to directly participate in the Maka’a Village Project once the planning process is underway (a very ambitious project!).

IF YOU CAN FINANCIALLY SUPPORT this endeavour, I say AKIBA to you.
Sharing this campaign widely is also a great way to support this work. AKIBA to you too.

Thank you for CARING.
