The Mick Alderson Fundraiser By Leeds PDRL
Donation protected
Hi.
I'm Tommy Pouncey, I play for Leeds Rhinos Physical Disability Rugby League. As a team we face significant challenges in our daily lives, together as teammates and friends we try to enjoy the best part of life; for us that’s sport.
Mick is one of our team mates and one of our most significantly disabled players, he was seriously injured in a hit and run in Morley (https://tinyurl.com/39vrbr6s). Mick is currently stable in hospital and we dont expect him to leave until at least after the Christmas period. He requires many surgeries, will be bed bound for weeks and also will receive extensive rehabilitation due to the severity of his injuries. For most people these injuries are career ending, however Mick is made of tough stuff; he's tougher than a Range Rover for sure. We hope to see him back in the blue and amber again.
Owing to this hardship, Micks significant injuries and especially over the Christmas period, his team mates have arranged two sporting events to raise funds to help Mick in this time of significant hardship:
- A rugby game in the spirit of charity in his name. This game will be Leeds PDRL vs PDRL All-stars (sponsored by ****). Upon hearing Micks story, players from opposition teams have elected themselves to come together to create a super team. The players will be travelling from across the country, some from Wales and even a superstar player from Australia. This game will be held The Bartercard Leeds Rugby Academy 3rd December KO 12.45pm. Retiring to Milford Sports Club for drink and other fundraising afterwards. Donation on Entry.
- 100km in 10 days. Tom Kaye and James King, both Leeds PDRL players will be attempting to run a mammoth 100km in the days prior to the All-stars game, this is a difficult task for any body, let alone two disabled players. They need your support for this. If you'd like to join in this challenge, we welcome any parallel fundraising efforts.
In addition to these two events a fundraiser evening will be held in Micks local pub by friends in his community. This will be held at The Commercial Pub in Morley, Leeds details to follow. .
