Minor League (minorleague.us) is an artist-run curatorial project operated by Alex Christopher Williams and Ellie Dent. Our mission is to advocate and be representatives for contemporary Southern artists and the southern artist community.

In the beginning, we opened the Mast gallery, an 1800 square foot space, in downtown Atlanta. We hosted thirteen exhibitions with twenty local and national contemporary artists, ran a flat file program with affordable works for sale by forty southern artists, as well as a full service print lab. Our pop up lease was only temporary so we changed our name to keep the Mast as a memory of the gallery we ran over the summer. Now, Minor League has shifted our focus to curating exhibitions in spaces all throughout the south. As a part of our process to find artists we want to work with, we are doing studio visits with them. This is a best way to learn more about their process and thoughts behind their work and we are bringing these insights to you.

Every week we publish studio visits with some of the best emerging and established contemporary artists in the south. From Richmond to Greenville, Tallahassee, New Orleans, Memphis, Birmingham to Atlanta and everywhere in between, we are unveiling the curtain so you can see the process of artists at work.

Your donations will ensure that we cover every corner in the American south. This endeavor is not cheap. We need to cover research, gas, hotels, food, and equipment. With your donations, we can bring you full transcripts to interviews, video tours of studios as well as, most importantly, cover curatorial submission fees that often range up to $100 per submission.

Thanks!
Alex and Ellie
