My Mt. Everest - Supporting The Goodness Web
Tax deductible
To mark my 50th birth year, my sister Annie and I are attempting to climb the elevation equivalent of Mt. Everest - 29,029 feet. On September 22nd at 6 am, we'll kick off this challenge - we have 36 hours, an amazing support crew from 29029 Everesting, and the beautiful scenery of Whistler, British Columbia to inspire us.
Hiking is a fundamental cornerstone of my mental health. It delivers an array of benefits that I know make me more grounded, present and happier... exercise, time in nature, device-free detox, and meaningful connections with people I love. Mental health has never felt more important to me than in recent years. I have been both a witness to the incredible support systems that exist for some, and how challenging and isolating mental health can be for others. And so I am honored to partner with The Goodness Web, an organization that is focused on early intervention, prevention and education for youth mental health.
Over the next three months, Annie and I will go through a rigorous training program to prepare us for 36 hours of uphill climbing, which will likely include hours in the cold, dark, and (we hope not!) rain or snow.
To make this birthday quest more purposeful, I'm hoping to raise at least $1 for every foot we climb - for a grand total of $29,029. I'm hoping you'll consider supporting me on this journey and donating to a cause that is dramatically changing the landscape of mental health. Any donation of any size helps!
Why partner with The Goodness Web?
- We are experiencing a youth mental health crisis - 1 out of every 6 children aged 6-17 experience a mental health disorder each year
- The average delay between the onset of symptoms and treatment is 11 years
- The youth mental health ecosystem is highly fragmented - 90% of philanthropic dollars go toward treatment, rather than early intervention and prevention
- The Goodness Web has superior sourcing and curation of investments focused on systems change
- The organization makes large-scale, multi-year commitments in early intervention, prevention and education
- 100% of your donation supports programs, as the operating costs are covered by the Board and Founders
Thank you for supporting me on this climb!
