On the night of March 18, my beloved mother Dinora was shot by my dad Jorge who as well shot himself seconds after shooting her. These are tough moments for my family and friends. Dinora was a hard working woman who always moved forward no matter the situation. She never gave up on her goals and always thought her children to be strong and fight hard for what they believed in. Her smiled always brightened up the room. She was determined to move forward for herself and her children when she decided to leave her husband. She always thought about her children before herself. Her last months alive she was finding her happiness and got to live the life she never was able to experience. She’d go out and have the time of her life and experience and see new things she never had seen. Every night before she went out she’d put on makeup and dress so beautifully and you could see the excitement in her face about the plans she had. She will forever be in our hearts, she is in a better place now. She will be looking over us and giving us strength to move on. As for my dad, he will be in our hearts too, although these are troubling times, we keep in mind that things happen for a reason, and that it’s our job as a family to move forward and continue our lives like they would’ve wanted us to.
