Hi All, we are starting a GoFundMe that is going to be part of the Bella Luna Foundation, a charity we're creating on behalf of our late hedgehog, Bella Luna.

Bella was a sweet little salt & pepper African pygmy hedgehog who just barely made it to her 4th birthday. She sadly had to be put down on her birthday when her oral cancer progressed too rapidly and she was at risk of bleeding out. She was the joy of our lives and lived from June 20th, 2021 to June 20th, 2025. We miss her so dearly.

Bella overcame so many obstacles in her short life--she had health issues that arose here and there, she survived emergency spay surgery that saved her life in February of 2025, only to unfortunately get cancer a few months later. The cancer was inoperable and very persistent. She held out as long as she could, defying all the odds and pursuing each day with happy, relentless optimism.

Her foundation is raising money for other African pygmy hedgehogs and owners dealing with expensive medical bills like we did, who need help paying for surgeries and vet exams due to cancer or other health-related issues. Any proceeds left over will also go towards hedgehog fostering, adoption, and husbandry. Our foundation is going to partner with the Hedgehog Welfare Society, as we have always supported their work and we know first-hand their great knowledge, resources, and care with fostering and adoption (we got our second hedgie Boston, Bella's sister through them).
