The Beast of Bolam Lake: Horror-Comedy Short Film
Donation protected
Hi! We're students from The Northern School of Art and we're fundraising for our final year student short film, 'The Beast of Bolam Lake'!
The Beast of Bolam Lake is a horror/comedy where Shaun of the Dead meets SCREAM. The film is set during a pub game night, in which a father struggles to connect with his daughter over an intense game of Werewolf. Little do they know: they’re the subjects of a real-life game of Werewolf themselves, the only prize being survival.
The Beast of Bolam Lake is heavily inspired by horror classics such as An American Werewolf in London (1981, dir. John Landis), Scream (1996, dir. Wes Craven), The Evil Dead (1981, dir. Sam Raimi), Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! (1969-1978) and many more. A production born out of love for the silliness often found in classic horror, our film doesn't take itself too seriously, merging the genres of horror and comedy.
With such inspirations, doing things practically is important to us. Working in collaboration with students from the VFX and Model Making course, we hope to utilise practical effects to bring The Beast, and the film, to life. With the film based in the North of England, it's also important to us that we shoot on location in the North to ensure a degree of authenticity.
We're aiming to fundraise £2,250 in total. The budget will be spread across multiple aspects of the production: creating The Beast, covering crew and actor transport and costuming to name a few.
We're super passionate and incredibly excited about this production, and we'd love your help to make it a reality!
