Tess Michaelsen's Fight Against Cancer

As the world spins around us, it seems like 2020 has introduced yet another obstacle for our friend Tess Michaelsen. Tess was very recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Exterior-Axial Chordoma, which is a rare type of cancer that was found in her left arm and has now unfortunately spread to her lungs and lymph nodes. Due to her new diagnosis, she will be undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, as well as a number of surgeries over the next couple weeks to months.


Tess is a fighter, and a strong one at that! She is no stranger to cancer, as she was diagnosed with Leukemia as a child, which she won her battle with many years ago! She’s an amazing friend and person, never seen without her bubbly personality or bright smile, she truly lights up a room when she is around. She is a strong young woman who is ready to kick cancer’s butt once more. Although this fight against cancer will not be easy, Tess has no plans in slowing down her education, as she will be moving toward fully remote learning to finish her senior year at Xavier University, which will allow her to stay home with her family while undergoing treatments.
