Tello’s Surgery

Hi, I am Sheila and I am very reluctantly starting this fundraiser for my dog Tello.

Tello is a big 90lb boy who loves life and has many more years of life left to live. Tello needs a TPLO surgery (knee surgery), I have pet insurance on him but after 3 weeks of back and forth with his vet and his TruPanion insurance company, trying to change his medical records, mistakes and appeals, Tellos pre approval for surgery has been denied. His insurance company is calling his condition “pre-existing” over a 7 day discrepancy between when symptoms appeared and when he was diagnosed with a CCL injury and his insurance waiting period.

This whole situation is devastating as without surgery, Tellos over compensation on his other leg/knee will have him develop arthritis and a possible CCL injury in his other leg meaning his mobility will be impacted greatly and his quality of life diminished immensely.

I am not the person who asks for help, I feel shame even thinking about this. I have my dogs insured to have peace of mind and so they can receive the care they need when they need it so I do not need to ask for help for my dogs medical care. This situation is very difficult for me but his surgery is $4650 at The Espanola Animal Hospital and this is simply not something I can afford out of pocket at this time. The longer I wait to save up for surgery, the more pain and damage Tello endures. So here I am, caving and setting up this fund for him. If 300 people donated $5/10/15, then we are in a position to give Tello a chance to live the long healthy life he deserves. Absolutely no pressure but I am asking for any help my friends can offer.
