Dear Family, Friends and Collogues,
Hello! I am entering my fifth year in remission from Leukemia following my stem cell transplant. For this, I am very grateful. However, I have been dealing with chronic GVHD (Graft Versus Host Disease) where the DNA of my new blood system and my existing cellular DNA, do not communicate well.
My GVHD has resulted in diminished capabilities of both my eyes and my lungs. I am now considered legally blind, cannot drive, have difficulty with depth perception, and now have use of the White Cane. My lungs have been diminished to 40% capacity due to a bronchial infection. These two items began in the spring of 2015. I am now on oxygen 24 hours a day.
There are specific technologies that could address these two specific items, and greatly increase my quality of life. However, I am presently receiving my Social Security as my only means of income. These two items together cost $7,500.
The first of these two technologies is the INOGEN G3 Portable Oxygen Concentrator with reusable batteries. This will allow me to leave my home for longer than 4 to 6 hours. It will also allow me to travel to my family in New England and other locations as needed. The second Item is a Scanner Reader built for the visually impaired. This Scanner Reader will tie into my existing computer system allowing me to read and/or have read to me any specific printed materials. I can also transfer items to save between the Scanner Reader and my computer system.
I am asking all of you if you would assist me in purchasing these two items by making a contribution through this GOFUNDME page. And if you know others who might want to donate as well, please pass this information to them. Thank you.
