#Team183 - Support John K. Wilson's Cancer Battle

Our very dear friend and colleague John K. Wilson of Twin Falls, Idaho was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer on January 24, 2020. John, affectionately known as JKW, has been a police officer for the past 36 years in both Idaho and California, serving for the past 22 years with the Twin Falls Police Department in Idaho. He is a member of the TFPD Command Staff and holds the rank of Lieutenant. John is planning for retirement earlier than expected to be with family as he continues his courageous battle with cancer.
John began several rounds of chemotherapy treatment in February. While there were some initial indications that it was working well, the tumor quickly learned to adjust. His oncologist has changed the chemotherapy drugs several times with some preliminary success, but John learned during his November visit to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota that the tumor has seemed to adapt to the latest treatment and aggressively grow.
John is now at the point where he is experiencing cancer symptoms like weight loss and stomach pain. At this time surgical procedures are not an option and his doctors have stopped chemotherapy. He will begin a radiation treatment program at St. Luke’s Cancer Institute: Twin Falls with the hope to shrink the tumor and provide comfort. We are hopeful that this will be successful, relieve the cancer symptoms and give John’s doctors additional treatment options. John and his family continue to be positive and pray that this is the success that the doctors need it to be.
For those of you who know him, you know that John is an extraordinary human being that has dedicated himself to his family, his church, his community and numerous worthy causes throughout his life. John has a sense of humor like no other and the ability to entertain others with his quick-witted knowledge of sports and other random facts.
John recently described cancer has a long hallway with a lot of doors. It has been a difficult journey for him, but he stated that it has been made easier because of the incredible support and positive interactions that "I receive from my brothers and sisters at the TFPD!"
Now, it's time that we send back some of that love and financial support to John. Some of his medical expenses are not covered and with multiple trips to Minnesota in his near future, anything you can donate will be truly appreciated in your support of John. Everything we can do to help and surround him with love is what is most important so he can focus on beating cancer.
