Team Schinzing vs Leukemia
Donation protected
Mark Schinzing epitomizes the definition of down to earth, in many ways. He is the type of person that will move mountains and fight to help family members and friends.
In the month of June, Mark felt like something was not right as he was short of breath and had random bruising, he decided to contact his primary care provider who in turn ordered some blood work. Later that night he received a call stating he should go to the hospital immediately. When he arrived at the hospital they ran numerous tests that confirmed that he has cancer but they weren’t sure what type. From there everything happened so quickly from blood transfusions, platelets, CAT scan, bone marrow biopsy and more blood work.
A few days later the bone marrow biopsy came back, Mark and his family received the worse news possible as it was confirmed that he has Acute Myleoid Leukemia (AML) with FLT3 mutation. The FLT3 mutation makes this an aggressive leukemia and with it comes additional risk such as higher chance of brain bleeds. With this mutation he will eventually need a bone marrow transplant but he needs to make it through this critical time first for that to even be a possibility.
Doctors informed Mark that he will be in the hospital for at least 4 weeks to under go chemotherapy.
Currently he is undergoing a regimen named 7+3. He is on day 5 and responding well.
As part of this he is not able to work while undergoing treatment. Any contribution to this fund will go directly to Mark and his family to help cover growing hospital bills and lost wages.
The outpouring of support from family and friends has not been missed, and your love inspires Mark to fight the toughest fight of his life!
