Bruce Anthony Lacina passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on October 1, 2019.
He was born in Fairfax, Virginia and grew up in Arlington, Virginia. Bruce went on to serve honorably as a Staff Sergeant in The United States Army Band, “Pershing's Own” in
Washington DC, before graduating from Virginia Tech with a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed at Tencate Geosynthetics for 19 years. He was a technical pillar in the geosynthetics industry where he was recognized for developing design guide specifications.
The accomplishment that he is most proud of is his boys. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching his sons play soccer, and working on cars.
Bruce is survived by his beloved wife of 22 years, Rose Lacina, his mother Jean Coe Lacina, his three sons, Garrett, Shane, and Dylan Lacina, his brother, Scott Lacina, his step parents, JoAnn and Dale Burke, an aunt, an uncle, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Lacina family welcomes donations for the boys’ education in lieu of flowers.
