About Dean's Diagnosis
Dean is currently facing glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. Following this diagnosis, he learned there is no known cure for glioblastoma. Still, thanks to ongoing medical advancements, clinical trails, and dedicated care teams, patients can sometimes live 5-7 years beyond diagnosis, and some have exceeded these expectations.
Current Treatment Journey
Having researched and discussed treatment options with medical teams, this is the most effective treatment. Dean was recently accepted into a clinical trail in Germany for Dendritic Cells Immunotherapy, a medical treatment not yet available in Canada, which provides hope for improved outcomes. The treatment, however, comes with considerable costs. A fundraising campaign has been launched to help cover these expenses. At present, Dean is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy, having recovered from surgery to remove part of the tumor. Due to his health challenges, he has been unable to work for the past 5 months.
Dean's Character and Community Impact
Throughout his life, Dean has been a dedicated community member. He volunteers, mentors young athletes, and consistently embodies resilience and optimism. Known for his strength, passion, creativity, and infectious energy. Dean is admired for his kindness, care, and generosity.
