As most of you know, Ava had a spinal fusion on 12/23/19 at the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. She has had scoliosis since she was 3. She has worn braces since then, but her curve took a bad turn with her recent growth.
This past year she was very fortunate to join a great support group for girls with scoliosis called Curvy Girls. It is a peer-led support group that helps to reduce the emotional impact of scoliosis by empowering girls through education, mutual support and acceptance. Ava and two girls from the Idaho scoliosis group are planning to attend the Curvy Girl Convention in New York in July 2020. While at convention, Ava will have the opportunity to attend sessions that will help her learn more about living with her “new spine of steal”. New York is a long way to travel for this spectacular event, so we'd love your help in getting her there.  Thanks for all your support and always being a part of Ava’s journey!
