Taryn Bell's HER-2 Cancer Radiation Therapy

My name is Taryn and I am a 30 year old single mother of two, recently diagnosed with Stage III, HER2+ metastatic breast cancer.
I was diagnosed during the COVID pandemic and I literally blacked out when my doctor was communicating my diagnosis. It started me, and I can say without hesitation, this is more emotional pain than I think I have ever experienced!
One day, I felt really bothered by this random bump under my armpit-- which I wrote off as possible hives, from something I hate. Except, this bump... It never went away. It grew progressively, transforming from a bump to a lump, and I knew something was not right. I contacted the emergency room and was asked to come in immediately.
After biopsies were conducted in three areas, multiple lesions were identified, and eventually lymph nodes were discovered in my right breast, with components of invasive cancer, visible on my breasts.
My cancer is in Stage III which means I do not have a great deal of time to make decisions about treating my invasive breast cancer. The specific plan was to start with chemotherapy, have a double mastectomy, radiation therapy and chemo again.
I am employed but after 30 days away from work using the Family an Medical Leave Act, my insurance lapsed an now I am really challenged emotionally, financially, physically and spiritually.
My body was not very receptive to chemotherapy but I successfully completed the first stage of chemo treatments. There are three remaining phases in the process that I have yet to complete: The double mastectomy, radiation therapy and another bout of chemotherapy. With only weeks left to provide payments on the upcoming surgery first, with radiation following shortly thereafter (another set of chemo sessions looming) so this option seems promising.
The state of California will not provide me with assistance and honestly I am barely able to provide the support necessary to care for me and my babies. God knows that I am trying hard to be strong, for me and my kids but I am feeble, and as much as it hurts me to ask for help, I really need it. Please understand, my babies and I are in need of assistance. I appreciate any help; your donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you so much. -Taryn
