Tammy’s Recovery From Leg and Hip Surgery
Donation protected
Hello Family, Friends & Caring Readers,
First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to read about our GoFundMe. It is so common now a days to see GoFundMe’s for all types of reasons that we just pass them right by, so again, thank you for continuing to read!
As most of you may know, my daughter Tammy was born with an extremely short femur bone in her right leg, which requires her to wear a prosthetic leg. When she was 2 years old she had surgery to amputate her foot in order to wear a prosthetic leg. Tammy is an above the knee amputee, which means she needs a prosthetic knee added to her prosthesis. Her prosthetic leg she wears now is a straight leg prosthesis which can not bend. In order for her to be able to get the prosthetic knee added to her prosthetics (and finally be able to bend her leg), she needs to have another surgery to her leg & hip.
During this 6-8 hour surgery, the Dr’s will be taking about 3” of bone from her leg and also work on some issues on her hip. Her recovery will be long! She will be in the hospital for about 7-10 days to be monitored and then she will be at home recovering for about 2-3 months, mostly bed ridden. Once she is fully healed, then she is starting physical therapy to learn how to walk with a prosthetic knee. Tammy is a true warrior and is so tough and strong! She does not let anything bring her down and always comes out stronger and better!
The reason I am asking for donations is so I do not have to make the hard and understandable decision between work and the care/health of my daughter. With your donations, it will give me the opportunity of staying home to care for her and help her with home schooling, and not worry how the bills will be paid for myself and my 3 children. I will either not work during her recovery or my hours will be reduced so I can be here for Tammy.
I want to truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading about Tammy’s surgery and considering donating.
I wish you and your family a Happy & Healthy Holiday Season!
God Bless you all,
Dana Burseth & Family
P.S.
I will continue to add updates to allow everyone to see her recovery progress. Surgery is not scheduled yet, we have the insurance companies handling that right now and we plan to do it after the New Year so Tammy can enjoy the Holiday & winter basketball season.
