Take a Mulligan Fund
From Roadside Rescue to Unlikely Friendship
Late one night on a quiet country road, I came across three glowing sets of eyes in the middle of the road. I slowed down, unsure of what I was seeing — and when I stepped out of the car, I was instantly swarmed by three small, purring kittens.
Not knowing what else to do, I scooped them up and brought them home for the night. I thought it would be temporary. But one of them — a soft, scrappy little soul — quickly made it clear he had found his home.
That kitten is now named Mulligan — and he's formed the most incredible bond with our blind and deaf dog, Bumper. The two are inseparable. Mulligan follows Bumper everywhere, curling up beside him, playing and even helping him navigate the world in his own way. He is the friend we ever knew Bumper needed.
We hadn’t planned on adopting a cat, but this connection is undeniable. We simply can’t imagine separating them. "Take a Mulligan" is a golf term which means to be given a second chance. And true to his name, Mulligan has become a second chance — for himself, for Bumper, and for our little family.
Why We Need Your Help
Taking in a new pet comes with a number of costs, especially for a surprise roadside rescue. We’re reaching out to our community — the same community that’s cheered on Bumper’s journey — to ask for support in giving Mulligan the best start in his new forever home.
Your contribution will help cover:
Item Estimated Cost
Initial vet check-up + vaccinations + deworming for three kittens $1100
Neuter surgery and microchip $500
Kitten food & litter (6-month supply) $450
Gear and miscellaneous costs $450
Emergency fund for Mulligan $500
Every little bit helps — whether it’s $5 or $50.
