Tad's Liver Transplant Expenses
Don protégé
My brother in law, Tad, is on the transplant list waiting for a liver. He became really sick suddenly after Thanksgiving and has been in and out of the hospital since then. This illness has most likely been quietly developing over the years, contributing to fatigue, neuropathy, confusion, and other symptoms that have left him unable to work for the last year. He is currently at UMASS Hospital in Worcester, where he has been for about a week and will remain until a liver becomes available. He is near or at the top of the list because of the severity of the situation, but for the moment his condition is stable.
We want nothing more than for him to return to his old self and get back to a normal life. Natasha wants her Dad back—the person who introduced her to classic rock and fosters her love of music and performing. My sister misses when Tad was happy and healthy and they were able to enjoy being a family. Johnna and Tad have been together for 30 years and this is heartbreaking for us all to watch him suffer for so long. We are unaware of how long it will take for him to receive a new liver, as many other complications have arisen since this all began.
Unfortunately, even with insurance, this is a pricey surgery. They can expect to owe tens of thousands of dollars when all is said and done, and anything that can help offset that would be so very much appreciated. Johnna has been traveling to Worcester every day awaiting an answer from the doctors and even something as minor as that adds up with the hospital being an hour away.
Thank you all so much for any help you can provide. Please keep Tad and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
