As many of you may know, Sal and I are pregnant and expecting twin baby girls this summer. After a doctor's visit and scheduled sonogram in mid-March, we were quickly referred to Driscoll clinic in Laredo, followed by Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, TX.
One of our baby girls, Isabella, seemed to have severe, life-threatening complications. After extensive evaluations and consultations with plenty of doctors, Isabella has been diagnosed with Limb-Body Wall Complex, a fatal and rare condition.
Since it was confirmed that our baby girls are identical twins, the pregnancy continues to be high-risk for both of our baby girls.
Due to this reason, doctors have requested that we stay in Houston for continued monitoring at Texas Children's Hospital. As of now, the length of our stay is unknown. Currently, we are housed at the Ronald McDonald House of Houston on Holcombe.
Our medical expenses include the cost of housing, each appointment, consultations, ultrasounds, MRIs, and any necessary upcoming procedures which are not covered by our insurance.
