Sydney's New Voice!

For those of you that know my sister Sydney, you know she is the happiest girl. A day spent with her is full of hugs and laughter. You also may know that she is non-verbal and utilizes an iPad to communicate. Unlike Sydney, the iPad's voice sounds robotic, cold, and impersonal, which, as you know, is nothing like her personality. I have always wondered what it would be like to hear her voice, or in this case, one that is custom made for her. VocaliD is the closest way to get there.

Founded locally in Belmont, Massachusetts, VocaliD believes in harnessing the diversity of the individual through their voice. Using merely seconds of voice clips from individuals like Sydney, the company uses a precise mapping of the vocal genome to create a unique sound. Each blended voice is customized to the individual, providing a greater sense of individuality, persona, and language development.

This may not seem like much, but we often take for granted the unique voice each one of us possesses. Sydney does not have her own voice. Her iPad is set to a generic computer generated robot voice, one that so many other individuals use daily. VocaliD is an opportunity to people who are non-verbal and we want to give Sydney the opportunity to find her true voice.
