Supporting the Cochrane sister's Leukaemia (ALL) fight

Donation protected
Riley, aged 4 & Georgie, aged 1 are two young sisters from Mauchline currently battling Leukaemia.

We would like to raise some money to help support their family while both their young children go through cancer treatment together. Lynne left her job last year to care for the girls full time and for the time being Ryan will be unable to return to his work to help with both girls. They have hospital car journeys, sometimes hotels and food to pay for while the girls are inpatients. As well as household bills and expenses especially during this cost of living crisis, while both unable to work for the time being. They want to make their girls lives as comfortable and enjoyable as they possibly can while they're battling this awful disease.

The families lives were turned upside down when Ryan & Lynne's eldest daughter Riley became extremely unwell over the Christmas 2022. They were absolutely devastated when Riley was diagnosed with ALL Leukaemia in February 23'.
Just over a fortnight ago (April 24'), their youngest daughter, Georgie, who after suffering from similar symptoms to her big sister for around a month, was also diagnosed with Leukaemia. Everyone is in complete shock. And although there is slightly more of a chance that siblings can also get a diagnosis like this, it's more common in twins, even then the chances of it happening are tiny. Around 50 children a year in Scotland get childhood leukaemia.

Both girls are still currently being treated at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow on the Schiehallion ward. Georgie is just at the beginning of her induction treatment and Riley, with a year to go is in maintenance chemotherapy. The length of treatment for ALL Leukeamia for girls is just over 2 years.

The girls difficult journey includes intense chemotherapy and steroid treatment, oral chemotherapy, regular blood count checks, along with many blood and platelets transfusions, regular trips to theatre and dealing with all the horrible side effects of treatments and neutropenia. Their parents are vigilant if the girls get a temperature, they need to take them straight to hospital to be treated on IV antibiotics. This has been a common occurrence with their eldest Riley.

They have been told this is very unusual circumstances that both girls have been diagnosed around the same time, and they will also all be going through further genetic analysis to give answers as to why this has happened to them.

Lynne and Ryan are absolutely devastated that they have to watch their two young daughters go through all of this at such a young age. They're missing out on so many things, Riley especially hasn't been able to attend much nursery & even spending special occasions as an inpatient. Yet as difficult as it is they remain optimistic the girls will live a full and happy lives once they come through the other side of this. They are only looking forward and planning to take them to Disney once they're through all the treatment and clear to travel. This is the kind of thing that's keeping them going for their absolutely wonderful and amazing little girls.

The whole family are really touched by the generosity of family, friends and some really special charities (which they aim to fundraise for in the future).

This gofundme is run by their family.
