My name is Ismail Obeid, and I write to you with a heart heavy from hunger, fear, and helplessness.

We are a family of eight, but with each passing day, we fear becoming fewer. Hunger consumes my younger siblings, my mother lies ill without medicine, and my father—once our provider—has not been able to work since the war began.

The hardest moments are when my little brothers and sisters look into my eyes and whisper,

And I have no answer. Only silence… and tears.
