Surgery for Sara

If you live in Rosarito chances are you know Sara Vega. Over a decade ago Sara started a non-profit 'Sara En Moviemento a.c.' which annually provides Christmas food boxes, clothing drives for the Kumia Indians, School Supply collections for needy children, BBQs and swim parties for orphanage kids, and quinceaneras for under privileged girls.  She has also regularly played a major role in securing emergency housing and donations for local fire and accident victims.

Several months ago, Sara noticed a lump growing in her neck which has been diagnosed as an aggressive thyroid tumor that is encircling her esophagus and compromising her respiratory system.  It was explained to her that the course of treatment begins with bloodwork, ultra sounds, Tomography scans, and a biopsy followed by surgical removal of the tumor and possibly all thyroid nodes. If the tumor is found to be cancerous further treatments of either radiation or chemotherapy will be required.

All of these treatments are expensive and as a single parent without insurance, Sara already struggles daily to maintain a household and provide schooling for her daughter, Samantha. Unexpected medical expenses are not in the budget and because this is a specialized surgery it must be performed by an experienced private provider. Sara immediately began working additional shifts to save the needed money to cover the unexpected medical costs in addition to living expenses during recovery while she is unable to work. 

Unfortunately, the Doctor now says it is mandatory that the tumor be removed ASAP due to the danger presented by the accelerated growth rate.  She has run out of time to save the needed funds.

Sara is resistant to asking for help, but as a witness to her generosity over the past 9 years to those less fortunate I cannot think of anyone more deserving. Sara has spent many years selflessly helping those in need in Rosarito and now she needs our help.
