The Heart of the Story
For decades, Bobbie & Art Greenseid dedicated their lives to the classroom. As retired teachers, they didn’t just teach subjects; they invested in lives, mentored students through challenges, and served as the backbone of our community. Now, they are facing a challenge they cannot grade or lesson-plan their way out of, and they need our help.

A Journey of Resilience
Our dad’s health journey took a major turn in July 2018 when he received a life-saving liver transplant. While that gift gave us more years with him, the anti-rejection medications required to keep him with us have taken a secondary toll, leading to kidney failure.

For the last four years, Dad (now 80) has been on dialysis. He is a fighter through and through, but the years of medical battles have made him physically weak.

A Hero Behind the Scenes
At 79 years old, our mom has become a full-time nurse, primary caregiver, and the literal strength holding their household together. She performs home dialysis so Dad can stay in the comfort of his own home and reduce his exposure to anything that can harm his already compromised immune system. However, the physical demands of helping him move, exercise, and transition in and out of bed have become more than one person can—or should—handle alone.

The Gap in the System
While we are grateful for the coverage provided for hospital stays and rehab, the reality of the American healthcare system is that home healthcare is often not covered. To keep Dad safe and Mom healthy, they require daily professional assistance. Currently, the out-of-pocket cost for this essential care is $8000 per month. On a teacher’s pension and retirement savings, this is simply unsustainable.

How You Can Help
We are reaching out to the community—former students, colleagues, friends, and family—to help these two people who have given so much of themselves to others. Our goal is to alleviate the financial "weight of the world" from Mom’s shoulders so she can focus on being a wife, not just a caregiver, and so Dad can continue his fight with dignity.

Your donations will go directly toward:

Professional home health aides to assist with daily mobility and exercise.
Relieving the massive weekly financial burden of private care.
Ensuring Dad can remain at home where he is most comfortable.

Even if you cannot donate, sharing this page with your network or posting a favorite memory of them as teachers would mean the world to our family.

Thank you,
Sherri B. & Joe G.
