Supporting the future years for Jill & Bernie

My name is Jo and I have set up this go fund me page along with my family to raise some money to support my elderly parents during the remaining years of their lives.

This week they were not only scammed out of some of their life savings but had more money stolen. 

It has devastated them and broken their hearts as well as mine and our families. 


My mum and dad, Jill and Bernie are a lovely happy couple in their 80’s.

Jill & Bernie have lived in Kent for 50 years. They have worked hard their whole life, bringing up their 3 children and have supported this community many times  over that 50 years.

Born in Yorkshire Bernie started his adult life in military service, being sent to Christmas Island where he experienced Operation Grapple, which  was four series of British tests of atomic and hydrogen bombs carried out in 1957 and 1958. He endured this without any protective equipment, covering their eyes with just his hands or clothes. 
He then worked as an electrician, working long hours and days away from home to support his family. Always doing his best for us giving us a great childhood. 

Over many years his health has suffered with heart and lung problem. He had a quadruple heart bypass in 2008 and has survived cancer.  He now struggles with his eye sight and finds it difficult to walk. He is needing assistance with day to day living. His mind is not what it was and the stress of this could exacerbate the dementia. 

Although christened Sandra, mum has always been known as Jill to her friends and family.

Born in Chatham during the Battle of Britain, she was born on what became known as the ‘the hardest day’,  August 18th 1940, a day of air battles between the German Luftwaffe and the British Royal Air Force. Being close to the dockyards you can only imagine what a terrible day this was for the family, but,  it turned out a lucky day as mum was born safely and just think what a tiny gas mask was needed for a 1 day old baby. Mum’s had a sometimes stressful life but on the whole a happy one. Working when she could including picking fruit in a field behind my school when we were all small, to working for a bank when were older.  Despite being 80 just last month she is now dads main carer so she’s still working hard. 

Mum has her own health issues. Her blood pressure is very unstable and the worry of this could be catastrophic to her health. She is a born worrier and this will have a huge psychological impact on her. 

They also looked after my grandmother for many years as she needed care and support. Two people always helping others!

Mum and dad were scammed. Their money taken.

Please find it in your hearts to help out two elderly people who still need to pay their bills, run their home, pay for food. 
As well as bus/taxi fares to doctor and hospital appointments and to the shops.
They need to be able to live. 

They are embarrassed and angry that these people have scammed their way into their home. They are worried and scared and concerned they may have to sell their home but most of all they are heartbroken. 

Please please support Jill & Bernie and lets make the rest of their lives as easy and as happy as it can be.
