Our beautiful friend Shar Sinclair has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and has begun chemotherapy.

If you know Shar, you know her. Sweet, funny, warm, always looking fabulous—and, no matter the occasion or circumstance, almost certainly wearing her signature gorgeous red lip and one of her beloved Gucci caps. It’s simply Shar.

Originally from Scotland, Shar has made New York her home for many years, bringing with her that unmistakable Scottish sense of humor, warmth and wit. Over the years, she has built an incredible career as a makeup artist working across news and entertainment.

Shar has spent much of her life sitting face-to-face with people in her makeup chair, using her extraordinary talent and her very special touch to make them look and, more importantly, feel their best. She's worked with anchors, presenters and celebrities, but it doesn't matter who is sitting in front of her—Shar has a way of making everyone feel special. It's one of the many reasons she is so deeply loved by the people she works with and by everyone lucky enough to call her a friend.

And now it's our turn to take care of her.

A stage 4 cancer diagnosis changes everything overnight. Shar is undergoing chemotherapy while doing everything she can to continue working and maintain the independent life and career she has worked so hard to build.

Alongside the physical and emotional reality of treatment comes another burden that no one should have to face while fighting cancer: the financial one.

There is still a mortgage to pay. There are everyday household bills, medical and treatment-related expenses, transportation to appointments and all the normal costs of life—at a time when chemotherapy can make maintaining a regular work schedule incredibly difficult.

Those of us who love Shar want her energy to go toward her treatment, her health and getting well—not worrying about how she's going to pay next month's bills.

That's why we've created this GoFundMe.

The money raised will help Shar with her mortgage and essential living expenses, medical and treatment-related costs, transportation to appointments, and help replace some of the income she may lose when treatment prevents her from working.

Shar is fiercely independent, and we know she wants to continue working whenever she feels able. We're not trying to take that away from her. We simply want to give her the freedom to listen to her body—to work on the days she can and, just as importantly, to rest on the days she needs to—without the added fear of what that might mean financially.

Shar has spent a career taking care of people and making them feel special. Now it's our chance to make her feel just as cared for.
