It is with a truly heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dearly loved friend and teammate, Karl Burns, at the age of just 56. Karl passed away peacefully on 5 June 2026 in the presence of his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kylie, their two adult daughters and teenage son.

Karl will be remembered as a remarkable man; a lionheart on and off the pitch; as fierce a friend as he was a teammate and opponent. Playing or socialising, he led by example with an easy charm and pied-piper appeal, inspiring others with an infectious energy, good humour, and an unfailing generosity of spirit. Indeed, Karl poured his heart into all that he loved: his family, his friends, his teammates and community. His loss will be felt deeply by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Unsurprisingly, many have asked how they can help Karl’s family. This page has been created to support Kylie and Karl’s family during this incredibly difficult time, and in their journey ahead.
