Hi my name is Morgan and I’m Gavin and Katie’s sister-in-law.
The past two years have been a relentless and heartbreaking journey for Gavin and Katie and their three beautiful children — Landon, Everley, and their youngest, Ashlynn — the happiest little girl out there facing an unknown battle.
When Ashlynn was just six months old, she was diagnosed with MAND/MBD5. Since then, Gavin and Katie’s lives have revolved around constant travel back and forth to Adelaide for countless specialist and medical appointments, tests, and hospital stays — all while trying to keep life as normal as possible for Landon and Everley.
After enduring so much already, they were then given devastating news: on top of her original diagnosis, Ashlynn has also been diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 1, with two large tumours on her optic nerves, one of which is the size of her eyeball. The emotional, physical, and financial toll of this ongoing medical journey is something no family should have to carry alone.
As if that wasn’t enough, last night their world was shaken yet again.
Their home was broken into, their car stolen, their house trashed, and every single Christmas present for Landon, Everley, and Ashlynn was taken. After everything they have faced, this was truly a kick in the guts.
Gavin and Katie are exhausted, heartbroken, and overwhelmed — but they remain incredibly strong, loving parents who continue to put their children first in the face of unimaginable challenges.
We know times are tough for everyone, and no amount is too small, but if you know Gavin and Katie personally — or even if you don’t — any contribution will help.
Donations will go toward replacing stolen essentials, easing the burden of travel and medical costs, and helping restore a little normality and joy for the kids during an otherwise heartbreaking time.
If you can’t donate, sharing this page means just as much.
Port Lincoln has always been a town that shows up for its own. By banding together, we can turn an incredibly dark time into a small glimmer of hope and remind this family they are not alone.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity, and support ❤️
