My name is Natasha Ricketts, and I am a teacher at Westinghouse 6–12. I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Ms. Everett, the mother of Michael Rainey, our student who was severely injured in a tragic accident outside of our school on October 15, 2025.

Michael was struck by a car and suffered devastating injuries — his leg was crushed, his femur was broken, and his knee was shattered. He has already undergone multiple surgeries and still has a long road to recovery ahead. During this time, his mother, Ms. Everett, has had to take an extended leave from school to remain by his side in the hospital, putting her own education and housing stability at risk.

How the funds will be used:

All donations will go directly toward helping Ms. Everett and Michael through this difficult time. Specifically, funds will help cover:

Transportation costs for Ms. Everett to travel back and forth to the hospital.

Childcare expenses for Michael’s younger siblings while she is at the hospital.

Basic living expenses while Ms. Everett is unable to attend school and work.

Assistance toward purchasing a reliable car, so that she can continue her education and provide transportation for Michael’s medical appointments and therapy sessions once he returns home.

Fund management:

Ms. Everett has asked me to manage the funds on her behalf. I will withdraw the donations and deliver them directly to her to cover verified expenses as they arise. All funds will be used solely for transportation, childcare, and family support needs related to Michael’s recovery and Ms. Everett’s ability to stay in school.
