The Kichwa People of Moretecocha, Ecuador, need your support to raise $5,000 by mid-August to fulfill a legal agreement with the Attorney General’s Office of Ecuador. This payment is the final step in closing a long-standing case that defends their land against extractivism. If the amount is paid in full and on time, the case will be officially archived, securing a legal victory and protecting the community from future threats. If the payment is not made, the prosecution will not agree to close the case, and Moretecocha could face renewed legal challenges. The community is no longer paying lawyers—this is the final push. Please help us reach this goal. Scan the QR code to donate via GoFundMe and stand in solidarity with the people of Moretecocha and the defense of the Amazon.
We appeal to Organizations, NGOs, and Foundations for support. The indigenous communities, known as the children of the jaguar, rely on these lands for their homes, fishing, and agriculture. The destruction of their jungle threatens their very existence, and without financial resources, they are vulnerable.
To combat these injustices, we are pursuing legal avenues under international collective rights laws for indigenous peoples. While the courts have indicated strong prospects for success, the process is arduous and resource-intensive.
The indigenous peoples of the Amazon are frontline defenders against climate change, risking their lives for the wellbeing of our planet. They urgently need our solidarity and financial assistance. We implore the international community to stand with these guardians of the forest and provide them with the support they need to protect their homes, culture, and the Earth itself.
