Support Walker's Daycare for Tiffany's Health

Hi, I'm Tiffany and the white bulldog is my medical alert dog, Walker. He is the most intuitive dog I have ever met. I deal daily with a variety of complicated issues that require fast action if they occur. My blood pressure and heart rate drop to deadly levels and I could potentially pass away within 10 minutes. I am also a diabetic. It is also suspected that I have a small GI tumor. All of this is related to being a Covid Longhauler. Walker alerts to blood sugar issues by licking and nipping at my fingers and will jump at my chest as a sign I need to get myself a shot that reverses the vitals drop. He can even push a syringe plunger. As soon as I sit in "our" chair, he is on my lap rooting his big bulldog head to where the suspected tumor is located.

Being alert all the time (sometimes he doesn't need to be), combined with him being high strung, leaves him little chance to be a dog. He will play with our other bulldog but she is getting up in age and he is a 3-year-old boy.

As a result, Walker is protective of me and takes out his extra energy on my husband. He is also high-strung which is to be expected. Our vet at Wellington Vet, who specializes in working dogs, suggested Walker go to doggy daycare to learn to be a dog. He goes 3 times a week and there is such a difference when he gets home. He works well with the staff who help him learn new skills other than noticing and alerting if someone is sick. They are aware of his skills and challenges and each day we see the dog he can be, not just the alert dog.

The cost of daycare is well worth what he gets from it but being on a fixed income means it's no longer in the budget for him to go as frequently as we would like.
