To all our former Nigerian National Team Players,

We’re reaching out today, not just as former teammates but as brothers and sisters who share a bond that goes beyond the basketball court. Our brother, Tunji Awojobi, who stood tall for Nigeria and represented us with pride, is currently facing a severe health crisis. Two years ago, Tunji underwent heart surgery, and now, he’s battling kidney failure, requiring regular dialysis. He urgently needs a kidney transplant, and the financial burden is overwhelming.

We often celebrate our athletes after they’ve left us, praising them when it’s too late. But we have a chance to act now and support our brother while he’s still with us. Where the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) may have fallen short, we, as former players who know the sacrifices and struggles of the game, must come together and step up.

We all played for One Nigeria. On the court, we fought as one, and off the court, it’s time for us to unite once again.

If the governing bodies ignore us, then it falls on us to support one another. Let’s come together as a family and make a difference for Tunji. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to saving a life.

Tunji was there for us when he wore the green and white. Now, let’s be there for him. We owe it to our brotherhood, our sisterhood, and our country.
