My name is Trini. On August 22nd, my husband was picked up by ICE at the airport on our way to a mission trip with my work. His name is Javier; he is a brother, a boss, a friend, a son, a man of honor. He works every day, rain or shine, to provide for us. He took care of me and both our families. We had just suffered a miscarriage and thought some time together would help us heal. This was his first mission trip, and he was so excited to help build a church and do God's work. If you ever had the opportunity to meet him, you know that he was always willing to help or lend a hand. I am broken knowing that one second he was right behind me, and the next second he is being placed in an unmarked car. We believe in God and know that He has a plan for us. Immigration does not acknowledge common law, and unfortunately, we had not been married by law. However, we had been making preparations to do so soon. I guess this is God's way of helping plan the wedding. My lawyer has informed me that our best option is for us to get married. Then I will be able to come back and start a family petition case. This will help us start the process of trying to bring him back home and keep him here!! We had just purchased a home, not even a month ago. I'm trying to process everything and at the same time figure out how to live everyday life without him. He is currently being moved from detention center to detention center with no notice or information, in the same clothes that he was picked up in, and has not been allowed to shower for days. I've only been able to talk with him for 30 minutes in the past 5 days. We know we have a long journey ahead of us, but we know that God is going to be with us every step of the way.
