Hello there! I am a young theatre actress seeking to further elevate and enrich my craft. My aim with theatre is to, through my own vulnerability and exploration of the complex beings I play on stage, encourage empathy, compassion, and ultimately healing, in audience members.
One of the ways I'm developing myself is through the continued research of a great trailblazing actress who came before me. Eleonora Duse was an Italian artist of legend billed as the first modern actor at the turn of the 20th century. She was prolific, transcendent, and a powerful mystic of the theatre. She inspired many of the greats we theatre artists study today, particularly the famed director and acting coach Konstantin Stanislavsky.
Through the study of her life and her methods, I am seeking to deepen my own art and expand my capacity to use it to impact the lives of others. I have the once in a lifetime opportunity to do this through the viewing of a rare exhibit currently on display about Duse's life and work through the Study Center for Documentary Research into European Theatre and Opera at the Giorgio Cini Foundation in Venice, Italy.
The $2,450 I'm raising for this trip will go towards my airfare, Airbnb/hotel accommodations, meals, ground transportation, and expenses for a five day educational tour in Venice, Italy. (p.s. - I will also be keeping a live blog documenting the learnings, insights, and revelations I make while I'm there!)
