Support The Colivas In The Fight For Lydia

Chris and I would like to start this letter by saying this is the hardest letter we've had to write! We are not usually the ones to ask for help but we are in times of need. About 3 weeks ago Lydia was diagnosed with a tumor. Without biopsy there was no way to know if it was malignant or benign. The particular tumor they suspected was a Wilms Tumor witch is a Kidney Cancer. Although this is a formidable kind of Cancer, and the a biopsy could be dangerous.
This Tumor is quite large consuming half her body, pushing most of her organs out of the way. Finally we got the word that they where going to go in and take it out, 5-5 1/2 hours later, they decided that it was to dangerous to proceed with probability of rupture, it was best option to cut a piece off for biopsy and close her up. The next day in rediscovery her breathing wasn't up to par so they ordered x -rays showing that one lung had partially collapsed and had a lot of fluid in it. Poor girl had to go back into surgery and have a drain inserted into her lung. After that she has been battling fevers, and all kinds of possible infections. She is now waiting to be strong enough to start, What will be the toughest battle of her life. Within the next few weeks or so she will start Chemo Therapy to start shrinking the tumor so that once again they can try remove it.
We've received amazing support from Family and friends. this will be a uphill Journey but we are all ready to fight for Lydia! We are staying very positive and Lydia has chosen to call the tumor her pancake. So if you talk to her please do not tell her she is sick or has cancer!
A strong mind can fight anything!
