Dear Family and Friends,

In light of recent events, we encourage you to donate to our American Civil Liberties Union fundraiser. Last January, during the first month of Trump’s presidency, we raised over $4,000 for the ACLU due to your generous contributions. A year later, as the Trump administration continues to violate constitutional rights, we hope you will support the ACLU’s litigation and advocacy efforts.

As one of the country’s premier civil rights organizations, the ACLU protects our fundamental rights, including reproductive freedoms, criminal legal system reform, voting rights, prisoners’ rights, immigrants’ rights, LGBTQ rights, free speech, capital punishment, and racial justice. For over 100 years, the ACLU has led efforts in pivotal Supreme Court cases, including the internment of Japanese Americans in concentration camps (1942), racial segregation in schools (1954), and legalization of abortion (1973).

Since January 2025, the ACLU has filed 239 legal actions against the Trump administration. Your donation would support the work of lawyers in courtrooms and advocates on Capital Hill and statehouses nationwide in their efforts to protect:
  • Immigrants' Rights and Due Process: In the last year, the ACLU filed 106 lawsuits to protect immigrants' rights. Over 84,000 people attended ACLU-led Know Your Rights trainings, preparing them for protests and what to do if confronted by ICE in their own communities.
  • Free Speech and Dissent: The ACLU and partners secured the release of international students and scholars who were detained by the Trump administration for their pro-Palestinian speech. The ACLU also took action against federal troops and National Guard units sent to LA, Chicago and DC to control protests.
  • Equal Protection: The ACLU challenged Trump’s executive order directing federal agencies to withhold funds from medical providers and institutions that provide gender-affirming medical treatments to anyone under 19 years old.

During these challenging times, solidarity and resistance are essential. We would greatly appreciate it if you would share our GoFundMe fundraiser within your own networks. Thank you for supporting an organization that is near and dear to our hearts.

All the best,
Lauren & Elizabeth
