Summer has been diagnosed with ductile cell carcinoma, and it is aggressive. The plan as it stands is to help her and her son get from Alberta to Arizona. She needs to get to Arizona to access treatment and be surrounded by family who can help care for her and her son. The specialists in Canada want her to begin treatment ASAP, so we need to move fast. We don’t know everything yet, but it looks like she will need to start with IV chemotherapy and follow that up with surgery, and then she may need radiation too.

Our family is coming together to do what we can. Some loved ones have pledged significant financial support towards their travel, which will help her get to Arizona so she can start treatment. However, there are some medical things she could and should be doing right away, but due to her legal status, they are enforcing a “payment at the time of service” policy.

The funds raised here will go towards medical expenses for things like imaging, appointments, and medications, expenses related to relocating, meeting basic needs, and any other unexpected costs associated with her care, treatment, travel, and recovery. The drive from Alberta to Arizona will be made with the help of her husband, but he will have to return to Alberta, at least for the short term, to continue to work and earn money. Their teenage son and two dogs will be making the trek too.
