Support Stan Sheppard's Veterans Village Inc Housing Project

My name is Stan Sheppard, a retired police detective from Philadelphia. After serving 30 years, I wanted to continue doing my civic duty to serve. In 2007, as a police officer, I invested in a property with the intention of opening a drug and alcohol recovery residence, formally “The Kings House LLC.” I operated the 17-bed facility for several years, providing housing, food, and social services to help clients affected by drug and alcohol addiction and homelessness, most of which was done with funding.

Now, I’m looking into converting the building into residential family apartments to help unhoused veterans and those in need of safe and affordable housing. I started a nonprofit status application under “Veterans Village Inc.,” which is pending and soon to be approved.

The mission of Veterans Village Inc. is to start with the rehab of our current location (3509-11 North American St., Philadelphia, PA 19140) and then work with the Philadelphia Land Bank to purchase lots to develop affordable housing solutions for veterans, utilizing modular, container, and tiny homes concepts to assure affordability and eco-friendly housing.
