Imagine dedicating yourself relentlessly to your dreams, only to be held back by the lack of basic resources to make them a reality. This is the harsh truth for many young female athletes in India, where family support is scarce, and finances are so stretched that they are forced to choose between survival and training. Yet, despite these immense challenges, these girls continue to excel, winning at State and National levels—with radiant smiles that defy the odds stacked against them.

How it started?

I first came across Sonam's story in July of 2024 through a news report on social media. I was moved by her story of moving from a small village to the national capital of India on her own, supporting herself by doing small gig work that at times paid less than $1, living off of money she won in prizes to become the youth national record holder in the 3000m steeplechase. She only has one goal, representing her country at the LA Olympics 2028 and bringing home a gold.

I didn't know how, but I needed to help. With some work and the generosity of a few friends, I was able to raise $1,400 and deliver Sonam and her fellow athletes running shoes, nutrition, and running gear in September 2024.

How is it going?

This issue is incredibly close to my heart, and I can't bring myself to stop after offering initial help. Since the first shipment in September 2024, I've been supporting five women athletes to meet their nutritional and training needs. When external support isn't available, I often turn to close friends for personal donations, and if that doesn't work, I cover the costs myself. However, it's clear their needs exceed what I can manage alone. That's why I'm reaching out for help.

These are the athletes you’ll be supporting. They are currently preparing to qualify for the 26th Asian Athletics Championship 2025, which will be held in Gumi, South Korea, from May 27th to May 31st, 2025. Following that, they aim to compete in the First Indian Open World Athletics Bronze Level Continental Tour in August 2025.

This campaign aims to raise $15,000 to directly support these athletes' training for national and international competitions. Here’s how your contributions will make an impact:

• Nutrition and Training ($5000): Covers diet & nutrition, coaching support and training equipments (shoes, running gear, recovery tools) to compete at their highest level.

• Altitude Camp ($4000): Covers five months of boarding and lodging for these athletes at a high-performance training camp.

• International Coaching ($3000): Covers travel for a specialist coach from the U.S. to India for a week-long intensive training session.

• Travel and Living Expenses ($3000): Support living and travel expenses for athletes so they can focus on training full time.

Every dollar makes a difference. When I started this journey, I had no idea it would grow this much. My resources were limited, but with the support of friends, we managed to make an impact. Now, I'm reaching out to you, with the hope that together we can break down the barriers these women face and give them a real chance to achieve their dreams. This isn't just about funding—it's about being part of a larger movement to uplift women's sports and create lasting change.
