Help Segerstrom Baseball Players Fight for Their Season and Their Rights

We are reaching out for urgent support on behalf of the 19 Segerstrom High School baseball players, as well as the whole team, whose season — and reputations — are being unfairly destroyed by a deeply flawed and questionable investigation by the school district.

Without warning and without providing any documentation, the district self-reported supposed “violations” to the CIF-Southern Section (CIF-SS) and issued secretive “findings,” resulting in devastating consequences:

• 19 players were ruled ineligible to continue playing baseball.

• All previous victories were forfeited, moving our team from first place to last.

• The team was banned from participating in postseason playoffs.

Shockingly, the findings were made public 8 days ago, players were informed 7 days ago, and despite relentless efforts by parents, students, and over 50 community members speaking at the school board meeting, no explanations have been given by CIF, the school, or the district about what the violations even are.

A mandatory meeting has been set for Monday at 5:30 PM with the district, where they will bring administrators and a district attorney — but the parents will have no legal representation. Meanwhile, the last day for playoff eligibility is just 10 days away.

What We Know:

• We believe the issue involves questions about student residency eligibility, despite the fact that all six seniors in question have been enrolled since their freshman year and live at the same addresses they always have.

• District bylaws require a formal appeal process lasting at least 10 school days for any eligibility issues before any decision is made. Yet, none of the families were notified, given an opportunity to respond, or offered due process.

This rushed decision, complete lack of transparency, and refusal to answer basic questions have left students devastated — and unless immediate action is taken to stay this ruling, irreparable harm will be done to these kids’ futures.

How the Funds Will Be Used:

• To retain legal counsel to represent the players and parents at Monday’s meeting and beyond.

• To ensure the students’ rights to a fair process are protected.

• To push for an immediate halt to the current rulings until a complete, fact-based appeal process can take place.

These players have worked tirelessly for years, representing their school with pride, and now, their dreams are being unfairly stripped away. They deserve better.
