Support Sebas's first NYC Marathon with Team For Kids

Hola everyone! I hope this message finds you well and healthy!!

My name is Sebas (short for Sebastià), and I am really excited to share with you that this year, 2025, as a half-baked New Yorker who has spent five years cheering and pounding from the sidewalk, I am running my first NYC Marathon!!!

While this is incredibly exciting and definitely a massive test for me and my fitness skills (after all, I can count only one half-marathon in my running history), it is also really cool because I have the opportunity to run with Team For Kids and help them by raising money for their cause.

Team For Kids is doing a phenomenal job of bringing sports to the lives of children in NYC and across the U.S., helping them build habits that reduce the risk of chronic illnesses like obesity and diabetes while fostering better mental health. Their programs help them build motivation, confidence, and a desire to be physically active for life (please check more of their work here)!

I grew up in Sa Pobla, a small town in Mallorca, Spain, where I played soccer for much of my childhood. I moved to New York City in 2019 to pursue my dream of conducting cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Back then, I was not much of a runner –my primary sport was rock climbing. It was because of the pandemic that I discovered running.

Sports have taught me invaluable lessons about discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. It became a vital outlet for maintaining both my physical and mental health during a challenging time. As a cancer researcher and someone deeply passionate about health, I understand the profound impact that early exposure to sports and an active lifestyle can have.
