Hi friends and fellow adventurers,
This August, I’m embarking on a journey across Hadrian’s Wall Path, a 7 day 70+ mile trek stretching from coast to coast in northern England. It’s a walk through history, across stunning landscapes, and past the remnants of ancient cultures. As someone deeply passionate about travel and learning from the world’s many cultures, this walk is both a personal milestone and an opportunity to give back.
I’m walking not just for the experience—but for a cause that’s close to my heart.
I’m raising money for Counting Fingers and Toes, a nonprofit started by our daughter educator Rachel Horres Devaney, that empowers families—especially those in underserved communities—to support their children’s early math learning. This worthy organization believes that every child is capable of excelling at math, and that math is more than numbers—it’s about creativity, play, and problem-solving. Through hands-on workshops and playful learning kits designed by Rachel, they help parents turn everyday moments into powerful learning opportunities. Debbie Jamison Horres and I strongly support Counting Fingers and Toes and couldn't be more proud of Rachel for her efforts all of which are in her spare time.
As I walk along this ancient path, I’m asking for your support to help children take their own first steps—toward a strong foundation in math and a bright future.
Your donation will help provide:
Early Math Play Kits for families
Parent workshops in preschools and community centers
Support for low-income communities where the need is greatest
Let’s turn steps into impact—one mile at a time.
I'm setting up a go fund me with a goal of $7500 for the walk and thank you so much for any contribution you make and being a part of this journey. 100% of your donation will go directly to Counting Fingers and Toes.
