Patrick is a great friend of mine who has always been fiercely independent and hardworking. As a talented art designer and graphic arts specialist, he’s dedicated his life to his craft and supporting himself, even as a paraplegic. Patrick is an extremely good and independent person. He has accepted his medical paralysis since it happened many years ago. He does not feel sorry for himself—he just embraces his situation and makes the best of it. His personal slogan is: “the only easy day is yesterday.”

Recently, Patrick faced a major setback—he needed surgery on his heel, which unfortunately led to complications. After part of his heel was removed, he developed sores and a serious infection, keeping him in the hospital for over three months. During this time, he’s been unable to work, and the medical bills have started piling up.

To make matters even more difficult, Patrick’s insurance company is now trying to release him from rehab before he’s ready to go home. He still needs significant care and support before he can live independently again. The thought of returning home before he’s ready is overwhelming, and the financial strain is taking a toll on his mental well-being. Patrick’s family is unable to help, as they are also dealing with their own health and age-related challenges.

That’s why my friends Josh, Alex, and I are reaching out for help. We participate in a podcast called GABNET with Alex, and together we want to support Patrick through this difficult time. The funds raised will go directly toward Patrick’s medical bills, necessary equipment, living expenses, and possibly 24-hour at-home care for about a year.
