Support Needed for Young Man's Cancer Surgery
Don protégé
This is Lyle. While on vacation in Victoria Falls, Africa this summer I met him in the store he owned. I was very impressed with him; he was well educated and was hoping to leave for better opportunities, but his mother had contracted cancer, so he was working to support her. I found this admirable. At no time did he ever ask me for money, but I did offer to help him set up a GoFundMe to alleviate some financial pressure. I never heard from him, and I continued my vacation. I got a message from him last week telling me that he was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer. He hadn't contacted me before now because he saw that I had broken my leg while on vacation and didn't want to bother me but now he is in a dire situation.
Although I never doubted this story having met him and being impressed with his personalty and sincerity, I assumed others would be suspicious, so I had him send a copy of his medical record so I could attest to the validity of his diagnosis. Showing it to a Dr. proved my trust, he has Stage 2 Colon Cancer.
In Africa, medical prices are very high. He has sold his shop and furnishings, had fundraisers, tapped out his relatives and friends and now he is desperate because he is so close. He has one viable option for surgery, and he is exactly $2900 short. Not a huge sum but one that is untouchable for him. He sounded like he had run out of hope and took a chance to reach out.
I’m opening this GoFundMe page hoping that people can donate a small sum, anything that might help him save up for the surgery before the cancer grows. We are so lucky here and giving any small amount is painless to us but could help save his life. There are so many people that need help, but this is one that I’ve chosen to help. If you’d like join me to help this young man, please donate any amount you can, and it will be greatly appreciated. No pressure please. Thank you.
