Hello, my name is Zane and I am reaching out to you today looking for support to help my sister. I am sharing my sister, Amanda’s, courageous journey and looking to ask for your support as she battles thyroid cancer.

In 2022, my sister was diagnosed with stage 4 thyroid cancer. In June of that year she underwent a grueling surgery where doctors removed most of the cancerous tissue by cutting through her entire neck. During that surgery, she also had her thyroid and 12 lymph nodes removed. The procedure was incredibly risky, and the doctors warned us there was a chance she wouldn’t be able to speak again. Miraculously, she pulled through with her voice intact, and we were hopeful that this would be the end of her fight.

However, a recent biopsy revealed that the cancer has returned, necessitating a second, equally invasive surgery.

This diagnosis has been a devastating blow for our family. As if battling cancer weren't enough, my sister and her husband have faced numerous challenges with their home. They bought the shell of a house in full from a friend, who ended up scamming them, leaving them with payments for the next five years. They also paid to have the home sheet-rocked, but the company only completed half the job and refused to finish it after being paid. To make matters worse, the only water company available is a private one, which raised the price from $800 when she first received the diagnosis to over $4,000 now.

Until the home is complete, my sister and her husband are stuck living in a mobile home with her mother-in-law, who has 6 dogs and 4 cats. This is far from an ideal environment for someone recovering from surgery and undergoing treatment.

The financial, physical, and emotional burdens are immense. We are setting up this GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate the financial strain and allow my sister to focus on her health and recovery without the added worry of medical bills and unfinished home construction. Your contributions will go directly towards her medical expenses, including the upcoming surgery, hospital stays, medications, and any additional treatments she may need. Additionally, funds will help complete her home so she and her husband can move in and have a stable place for her recovery.
