Justice for Monsignor Gus Barrera

Just weeks before his retirement, our beloved Monsignor Gus Barrera was falsely accused of wrongdoing alleged to have occurred 35 years ago. The allegation was published before Monsignor was afforded any due process whatsoever. He has not seen any written complaint. Neither Monsignor Barrera nor the review panel were afforded an opportunity to confront (question) the accuser. Nor were they given the opportunity to investigate the credibility or motives of the accuser. The person who was responsible for the “investigation” has a personal relationship with the accuser. Monsignor Barrera was not given the opportunity to present witnesses, or to be heard by a fair and impartial review panel. This is a travesty of justice. Monsignor Barrera is a good priest who dedicated over 40 years of his life in service to the priesthood and to the Church. We cannot allow the unfounded accusation to go unanswered. We are conducting an independent investigation and ask for your help in covering some of the anticipated costs. Monsignor Barrera was always there for us. Now, he needs us.
