We continue to work hard to give our rescued monkeys and apes the best possible care, but without the funds from our entrance fee, we are stretched. We would really appreciate any help you could give at the moment to contribute to our fresh fruit and veg bills, as well as our huge bedding and PPE costs too.
Primates such as chimps make new nests every night to sleep on, and we encourage this natural behaviour. We provide them with sheets, towels, branches, and wood wool for this purpose. We usually have large stores of donated blankets, sheets & towels from visiting public, but we have stopped accepting these due to the risk of cross-contamination. This means that our shopping bill of wood wool has skyrocketed!
We also have strict hygiene protocols to protect our apes, in particular, from any bugs that we could pass onto them. At this time, we have increased these measures and are becoming even more stringent with our hygiene equipment. We are effectively trying to stop any cross-contamination between houses, and limit contact between our staff and the primates. As a result, we are using around three times as many disposable gloves, again at a huge cost.
This is a tricky, tough time for everyone at the moment. If you can spare £1 or £2 to help us care for our rescued primates we’d be incredibly grateful.
On our social media channels, we are sharing free videos of the primates at the park, and also running a free educational course, as we know we are all in this together!
We can’t wait to welcome you back to the park in the future, but in the meantime, take care and stay safe.
