Kokua Micah & Maiahʻs Baby Boy
Donation protected
Micah & Maiah hugged and smiled with excitement when they found out theyʻll be having their first baby boy. Soon thereafter that excitement turned to tears when Dr.ʻs confirmed baby Kamahaʻo will be born with Isodicentric Chromosome 15 Syndrome - a disorder that includes a broad spectrum of things such as poor muscle tone, delayed development, impairment of motor skills (including sitting and walking), trouble with feeding as babyʻs facial muscles may be too weak to suck and swallow, backflow of acidic stomach contents into the esophagus, behavioral difficulties, eyes that do not look in the same direction, hearing loss, language development, and seizures. How severe it will by for baby, we donʻt know. Baby Kamahaʻo also has a hole between his belly and his chest (Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia) so his organs that should be in the belly (intestines, stomach, liver, etc) are going through that hole up into his chest, thus smashing his lungs and making it hard for him to breath.
Baby Kamahaʻo original due date was November, then because of his health it got changed to September 12, and now Drʻs want Maiah on Oʻahu August 28th. He will need surgery asap to put his organs where they belong. After surgery Drʻs are not sure how long recovery time will be. It may be a month or longer.
Micah and Maiah need your kokua more than ever right now. Maiah will not be working, and Micah will be going back and forth to Oʻahu with their 3 daughters. The expenses involved with Baby Kamahaʻo, and trips for Micah and their 3 daughters to see mommy and baby brother are a lot. If youʻre able to, please help them through this with your donation. Letʻs bring Baby Kamahaʻo home to his ohana....together.
